Thanks Y'all!
The GUADEC 2010 team would like to thank all volunteers and participants for making GUADEC 2010 an amazing event. Thank you everybody!GUADEC 2010, Day 3
With nearly 400 participants getting together to discuss current and future GNOME projects, GUADEC 2010 saw its final day filled with topics addressing diversity and connectivity. Several of the sessions specifically emphasised the multi-cultural aspect of the GNOME project, with presentations by Emily Chen (GNOME in Asia), Jonh Wendell (GNOME in Brazil), Andre Klapper (Identifying software projects and translation teams in need) and Silvia Miranda (Quality translations in GNOME). Other talks again dealt with the idea of a GNOME desktop integrating with web services, including Adrien Bustany (Is your GNOME connected? Unifying the online and the offline using smantic services), Rob Bradford (Embracing the Web - Integrating web services within GNOME), and Zeeshan Ali and Lennart Poettering (Bringing the Network back into GNOME technologies).Volunteers needed - network teardown
Help us take down the network at GUADEC 2010!GUADEC, Day 2
GUADEC was in full swing today as 20 session speakers and discussion groups presented throughout the day. Many morning sessions delved into technical detail. Rob Bradford's 5 things every GNOME hacker should know was a success (and he even had 6 tips to share!), and John Palmieri reinforced keynote thoughts from yesterday with his talk The future is JavaScript. The Google Summer of Code Student Lightning Talks drew an energetic crowd, and Stormy Peters gave us advice on GNOME Foundation: Getting things done.GUADEC 2010, Day 1
GUADEC 2010, the annual GNOME User and Developer European Conference, kicked off with a keynote speech by Mozilla lawyer Luis Villa. Mr Villa encouraged GNOME to embrace the web, saying that in the struggle between web and desktop, the web has come out on top. Why? Because the web is a powerful, reliable, cheap, available and a constantly improving application platform. This should be a wake-up call for developers of the GNOME desktop suite to design their applications to web standards, including using HTML 5, CSS-like and JavaScript when building or rewriting code.GUADEC Design Thinking Workshop - one more time!
